Trezor Hardware Wallet
Trezor.io/start is the official onboarding portal for users setting up their Trezor hardware wallets for the first time. Whether you're using the Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T, this page directs you through the secure installation process and prepares your device to manage and protect your cryptocurrency.
Purpose of Trezor.io/Start
Trezor.io/start is designed to guide users through three essential steps:
- Installing Trezor Suite
Users are prompted to download the official Trezor Suite application for desktop or to use the web version.
- Connecting the Hardware Wallet
After installing the application, the user connects the Trezor device to their computer using the included USB cable. The application then detects the device and begins the initialization process.
- Creating or Recovering a Wallet
New users will create a new wallet and securely generate a recovery seed. Existing users can recover their wallet using their 12-, 18-, or 24-word recovery phrase.
Desktop vs Web Interface
Trezor.io/start supports two pathways:
- Trezor Suite Desktop: A downloadable application that runs directly on Windows, macOS, or Linux. It allows complete functionality and includes firmware updates, portfolio management, and coin control features.
- Trezor Suite Web: A browser-based interface for managing the wallet online. While it supports most essential features, it relies on Trezor Bridge or WebUSB to communicate with the device.
For security and performance, Trezor recommends using the desktop application when possible.
